Although the theory AdvancedFilter_dFunctions_week12.ppt was quite short and not very clear, it was sufficient alongside with the teacher's explanations and examples we worked in class. I knew nothing about advanced filtering before this lesson so I found everything very interesting. I especially liked the way we used several VLOOKUP functions in order to create that dynamic searching table.

Functions and Validation
After reading the 2 pdf's of theory, Excel_Formulas&functions[8]-SUM, AVERAGE, PMT, IF, VLOOKUP.pdf and dataValidation_and_FormControls [9]_c.pdf I've looked over the PMT application I finished earlier this semester to review the practical skills. I finally got the hang of those buttons and slides and the VLOOKUP function. The practice file cand be found, as usual, at https://sites.google.com/site/economicinformaticsprojectsite/drafts

Text functions and charts
I finished the 7th pdf, Excel_Formulas&functions[7]-basics&TextFunctions.pdf, and the corresponding practice file. I uploaded the solved file here: https://sites.google.com/site/economicinformaticsprojectsite/drafts
Most of the tasks were pretty easy, the last mixed chart posed a little challenge but I figured it out eventually.

Comments and Subtotals
In the 5th pdf, Comments_GroupingSubtotals_[5].pdf, I learned a little more about comments and a lot more about subtotals which i haven't used before. I uploaded the practice file to my site, here's the link: https://sites.google.com/site/economicinformaticsprojectsite/drafts
Formulas
I read excel_formulas[4].pdf and finally found something worth reading:
- 3D references, although it was explained to us in class, reading about it made it very clear
- styles, even though I don't usually use them it's good to know they're there and they can be very useful with large amounts of data
- printing options, I had no idea you have to go through that much trouble in order to properly print a spreadsheet.

The return of the basics
As I continued my journey through the theory I stumbled upon worksheet_basics[3].pdf
As its name suggests, it's another pdf filled with basic theory about Excel, nothing really new in there. Hopefully the next one will be more challenging.

Starting to prepare for the exam
As the exam gets closer and closer i decided to start working my way from the first labs/pdf's to the last, in a chronological matter.
Since I already read the first pdf a while ago i downloaded and read the second one, Introduction to Excel 2007 [2].pdf
I didn't learn a lot of things from this one, it seemed to me more like a commercial presentation, the key features and strong points of Excel 2007 and how to use them. I'm looking forward to the pdf's with theory for the exam.
